SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS
Candidate must meet the qualifications for Site Coordinator as specified by the Office for Children - A Site Coordinator shall be at least 20 years of age and meet one of the following:
1. Have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Child Guidance, Human Services, Nursing, Psychology, Physical Education, Recreation, Child Psychology, the Arts, Social Work, Sociology, or Child Care; and have six months of experience working with school age children;
OR,
2. Have a Bachelor’s Degree in any field or an Associate Degree in any field of study listed above and has nine months of experience working with school age children;
OR,
3. Have a high school diploma or equivalent; and have one year of experience working with school age children.GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS
1. A demonstrated interest and commitment to working with children and families is necessary.
2. Experience in designing and leading activities for children is strongly preferred.
3. Must have current First Aid and CPR Certification.
4. The individual should like children and have the ability to work with and understand the needs of children and have a commitment to working with participants from a variety of different backgrounds.
5. Knowledge of group work process – must agree to work in harmony with other staff
6. Must be a positive role model with the ability to maintain a motivational, energetic attitude while conducting activities.
7. Must set an example of dedication, team spirit and creativeness to/for other group leaders.
8. Must be willing to stand in for or with other group leaders.DUTIES
1. Keep the safety of children as first priority. Emphasize personal safety and emotional well being with children, parents, and other personnel at all times.
2. By personal example, helps interpret the quality of USES values to children, parents, volunteers and staff.
3. Uses positive, constructive and effective methods of discipline/positive reinforcement that stress teaching, not punishment.
4. Develop a positive and sensitive rapport with children, parents, volunteers and staff.
5. Plans and implements recreational and educational programs that emphasize group participation.
6. To work in cooperation with the Education and Enrichment Coordinator to ensure the most effective and efficient execution of the curriculum and other activities.
7. Reports all accidents/unusual incidents immediately and assists with necessary documentation.
8. Implements activities that foster creativity and awareness of various cultural, educational, recreational, environmental and social issues.
9. Maintains and cares for all program areas and supplies.
10. Assists with the coordination of USES program activities. Actively participates in all aspects of programs, including special events.
11. Attends all staff meetings and training sessions. Becomes familiar with provided training materials.
12. Communicates program information, problems and concerns as they occur.
13. Performs other duties as required by supervisor (remains flexible).
14. The Head Group Leader shall implement and maintain a well-rounded, quality SACC program that will meet the needs of the community and its members. Quality measured by a warm and engaging environment that provides positive channels for children to grow, learn and develop to their fullest potential.
15. Abides by the established OCCS/USES After School policies, procedures, regulations and guidelines and asks when in doubt.
16. Communicates positively and effectively with and assists staff members who are in need of information or assistance in general programming activities.
17. Introduction of all new staff and students into the USES After School Program.
18. Is responsible for the day-to-day functions of the After School Program when the After-School Coordinator is off site.The above statement reflects the general details considered necessary to describe the principal function of the job identified and shall not be considered a detailed description of all the work requirements that may be inherent in the job.
