Boston After School & Beyond is a public-private partnership charged with supporting, strengthening, and expanding Boston's out-of-school time (OST) system. By aligning school and out-of-school efforts, Boston Beyond seeks to advance the development of a unified system of high quality and engaging opportunities that meets the needs of Boston's youth.
Initiatives and Projects
Boston Beyond works with public, private and nonprofit partners to strengthen and expand learning opportunities for youth in Boston’s communities. We seek to ensure that youth experience the entire day and the entire year as a series of coordinated education and enrichment opportunities, from kindergarten through high school graduation and beyond.
NEW THIS SUMMER
Summer in the City: Programming and Youth Employment
As summer approaches, it is worth noting the enormous potential it holds for closing the achievement gap. Summer enrichment and education opportunities abound in the city: Boston offers almost 900 program opportunities and nearly 9,000 summer jobs for teenagers.
Neighborhood Networks Launch Public Websites
Four neighborhood-based networks of youth serving organizations, supported under the banner of the Teen Initiative, launched public web sites this summer, a victory for their collaborative efforts.
New Additions to Our Online Research Library
This month Boston Beyond has added three new research briefs to our online research library. Published by Child Trends, an independent research and policy center focused on improving outcomes for children, the briefs are all related to youth participation in out-of-school-time programming.
